Kris Allen wins American Idol 09

We would like to congratulate Kris Allen for winning idol. Kris was our favourite contestant from the start and we couldn't see why he was called the Dark Horse.

The American Idol Final was an incredible show. Highlights included Adam lambert performing with Kiss and Kris Allen performing with Keith Urban.

We are not to sure about the winners song. This is a disaster song to launch your career but I think by now everyone knows the winners song is usually terrible. However this song by judge Kara was the worst yet. Even Paula, Randy and Simon couldn't say a good word about it.

Danny Gokey out of American Idol Final‎

Danny Gokey, one of the most popular idols but was voted out of the shows final this week. The show had followed his progress from the start. His heart rendering story of his wife dieing and him building the strength to follow his dreams made it very sad farewell. 

Paula Abdul had predicted it would be Danny and Adam in the final. She was only 50% right.

There was an amazing 88 million votes cast. With this amount of viewership it is almost guaranteed that Danny will become succesful recording artist.

The final next week pits Adam Lambert against Kris Allen. 

We would like to see Kirs win but think the screeching Adam lambert will take the title.

Alison Iraheta, The last girl out of American Idol 09

The shortage of women this year in American Idol shows That the majority who vote are female. Women voters are obviously going to vote for the male singers. This means we have seen a shortage of girls in the final few. 

 We are sure this will not be last we hear of Alison.  From previous years It has been apparent that, girls after the show go on to greater things rather than their male counterparts.  Alison is young, has a unique look and distinct sound. She will be set for life!!!

Adam Lambert to be first gay idol winner?

SOURCE LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Adam Lambert wears eyeliner and diamond stud earrings, sings like a dream and has won a rare standing ovation from tough-minded judge Simon Cowell.

With three weeks to go before the "American Idol" final, Lambert, 27, is favored to win the No. 1 U.S. television talent show and become, possibly, the first gay or bisexual singer to be handed the "Idol" title by millions of Americans.

Lambert, praised by "Idol" judges for taking risks with songs like Cher's "Believe", has never publicly confirmed his sexual preference, nor has he denied speculation about being gay -- a striking contrast to 2003 runner-up Clay Aiken.

When photos showing him kissing other men and dressed in drag circulated on the Internet last month, Lambert said simply: "I have nothing to hide. I am who I am." Lambert ended in the bottom two for the first time on Wednesday night, but viewers have so far shown little sign of caring about his ambiguous sexual orientation.

An army of "Glambert" fans cheer him on, vote for him weekly and have made him the favorite to win.

"Some people are saying, wouldn't it be amazing that in the same year that the first African-American president took office in the U.S., we also elected the first gay and/or bisexual 'American Idol'," said Robert Thompson, professor of popular culture at Syracuse University in New York. 

"I don't think that's comparable. Rather than being surprised, I am thinking 'Wow, have we really got this far without having one yet?'" Gender-bender stars are nothing new in the music business -- Elton John, Prince and the androgynous Boy George. Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O'Donnell are openly lesbian, and while TV stars like Neil Patrick Harris have come out as homosexual, Hollywood awaits its first huge gay male star. "American Idol" may just give it to U.S. music fans. 

The show has become a cultural phenomenon in the United States in the last eight years and is as much a popularity contest as a talent show. 

The audience that averages 26.3 million viewers weekly has shown an openness to embrace everyone from 8 to 80 years old -- and it's the viewers who vote to decide who wins. 

Aiken, the 2003 runner-up, dodged questions about his homosexuality for five years before publicly acknowledging in 2008 that he was gay. Lambert, who donned a white silk suit and diamond ear studs for the show this week, is more flamboyant in his dress, vocal style and performances than most -- if not all -- contestants. "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi called him "confusing, shocking, over the top, theatrical -- but I like it!"

Lil and Anoop leave American Idol

This week we saw 2 contestants leave American Idol. The first to be told she was going was Lil. The second was Anoop Dog.

It was no great surprise that Lil would leave. Her performance the last few weeks have got very cold receptions from the judges. Her reaction was 'at least I am having fun'. This is a sign that contestants know they are on the way out.

It was very disappointing to see Anoop  leave as he was a likable character. He obviously had a good voice but it was apparent that he was one of the next few to go.

Summary: We were please to see lil go but  thought Matt Giraud should have been the one who left instead of anoop.

American Idol - Thoughts on disco night

Disco night saw some good performances from the contestants. Stand outs were Kris Allen and Adam Lambert.

Best Outfit: Allison Iraheta, the sixteen-year-old, was wearing a dominatrix leather style outfit that made her look smokin'. Is it wrong for a girl this age to look so hot. I notice none of the judges mentioned the clothes for fear of an American public outcry.

Worst Outfit: Anoop dog was wearing a pink sweater and grey suit. It kind of suited him but should men really wear pink? I think not!!! 

Prediction: Two people are going out this week and Lil bombed and also had the bad luck of going first on disco night. So she will be out. We also believe that Matt Giraud will be out after another average karaoke performance.

American Idol Save: Matt Giraud lives another day

After a hectic night in which time constraints forced the judges to give their opinions in pairs for the first time — and the show still ran over — the elimination night felt almost breezy.

Because this week's mentor, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, is one of the show's biggest fans, it seemed he couldn't help but put his imprint on the opening of Wednesday night's show. With a doomsday showdown vibe fueled by an ominous voiceover, "Pulp Fiction"-style titles screens, quick edits and scratched-negative reels, the intro set up the elimination show as a do-or-die faceoff.

But before any drama could unfold, things got warm and fuzzy for a while. In keeping with this week's movie theme, the top seven sang the "Flashdance" classic "Maniac," with Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta taking turns flirting with the judges as the kids shimmied through a high-energy arrangement. We also got to see tape of the cast meeting Zac Efron at the premiere of "17 Again" after Tuesday night's show and watch Iraheta get a bit tongue-tied as the boys teased her about her Efron crush.

Speaking of Iraheta, who got props Tuesday night for being the girls' only hope left in the competition thanks to her gutsy take on Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," she was the first one to pass through to the next round. Though Simon Cowell didn't love Adam Lambert's cover of Steppenwolf's "Born to Be Wild," the leading contender on the show quickly took a seat as well, though Anoop Desai wasn't so lucky despite good notices from the judges for Bryan Adams' "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You," landing in the bottom three for the third week in a row.

To shouts of "My sister loves you!" Kris Allen waited to find out whether viewers liked his cover of "Falling Slowly" from the movie "Once," which Kara DioGuardi labeled his best, but which Randy Jackson called pitchy. Simon, who didn't get a chance to discuss the song Tuesday night called it "brilliant," the opposite of what he said about Lil Rounds' cover of "The Rose," which sent the one-time leading contender back to the bottom three again.

That left Matt Giraud and Danny Gokey as the last two awaiting their fate, with Giraud having sung an unevenly received cover of Bryan Adams' "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman," and Gokey banking on his performance of Lionel Richie's "Endless Love," which Simon said he found boring and unoriginal. Gokey got the pass, which meant Giraud was facing the bottom three for the second time.

Looking the cellar dwellers over, Kara said the bottom three looked right to her. It wouldn't be a long trip for Desai, though, who got yet another reprieve.

With only two more weeks left to use the once-only season save, Simon said, "You know, there is one I think that I would consider saving, and it might be a surprise to that person." When pressed by host Ryan Seacrest if it was Rounds, who has come under repeated fire from Cowell, the judge said, "We'll see who it is." After a vote of more than 36 million, Seacrest sent Rounds back to the couches, leaving Giraud center stage to sing for his life.

Throwing a bit of rasp onto his usually smooth croon, Giraud gave the Adams song from the 1994 Johnny Depp/ Marlon Brando movie "Don Juan DeMarco" a bit of a country swing, appearing confident and energized as he faced down the judges. At one point, he stretched to hit a high note that he couldn't quite reach, grimacing a bit, but then ended on one of his signature clean falsettos, which brought the audience to their feet. Paula Abdul and Kara, who swayed along and clapped during the entire performance, stayed on their feet as the crowd broke out into a chant of "save, save, save, save!"

Simon asked Giraud how many times he'd been in the bottom three and then told him that the performance was not as good as the night before. "I don't see that you have really any chance of winning the competition," he said flatly, as Abdul, Jackson and DioGuardi protested, "Oh, come on!" and waved their fingers.

"Matt, we've made a decision," Cowell said. "Matt, it's good news." Giraud was swamped by his fellow contestants and burst into tears as Cowell looked on with a warm smile and warned the remaining seven, "I wouldn't be so quick to congratulate him. Number one, two people are going home next week now. Second piece of bad news, next week is disco week."

The show also featured the triumphant return of former "Idol" finalist, Oscar- and Grammy-winner Jennifer Hudson, who sang her latest single, the slinky R&B tune, "If This Isn't Love." The pre-taped segment featured Hudson unleashing some of her signature titanic vocals, providing further proof that viewers got it wrong when they prematurely voted her off in season three, a mistake that led to the implementation of this year's save rule.

Also performing on the program was Miley Cyrus, who sang her new single, "The Climb," while wearing a glittery silver ball gown on a stage enshrouded in fog.

In addition to the sounds of disco from the competitors, next week's elimination show will feature music from last season's runner-up, David Archuleta, singing his latest single, "A Little Too Not Over You," as well as disco legends Harry Wayne "KC" Casey of KC and the Sunshine Band, Thelma Houston and Freda Payne, who will perform a medley of their boogie-fever hits, including "Get Down Tonight," "Don't Leave Me This Way" and "Band of Gold."

Our view is that Matt was not the best contestant to save. It was just a matter of timing.. The judges had to use their save at some time and there  has been no real surprises in the judging like in previous seasons. We just hope Matt gets the boot next week! Your opinions welcomed

American Idol: Not all judges voted on each singer! Show a disgrace!

The latest episode of American Idol was not up to it's usual entertaining layout. 

Only having two judges vote does not work!!!! in fact it ruined the whole atmosphere of the show. We all want to hear what simon has to say and he didn't even  get to comment on many of the singers on the evening.

It is starting to show that  with the extra judge 'Kara',  the idol  show makers are hard pushed to fit the show into their allocated hour slot.

Scott MacIntyre eliminated

Scott MacIntyre was eliminated from "American Idol" last week. The man was probably more famous because he was visually impaired rather than his voice.

The final nail in the coffin was some bad guitar playing when he left the Piano to sing solo at the microphone.

The sympathy vote by the judges Paula and Carri was not good enough as Simon and Randy kept the judges save for another week.

You couldn't help feel sorry for the poor chap but we are sure this is the last you will see of him.
